Chipotle kicks off the new year with a nationwide hiring flash.
With hundreds of new restaurants in the works, the Mexican grocery chain plans to fill 15,000 new jobs, according to the hiring announcement.
To fuel this recruiting effort, all Chipotle locations are hosting a Coast to Coast career event on January 14th. On-site interviews take place from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. and 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. local time.
For safety reasons, interview rooms are available outdoors and by the roadside.
“Please bring a mask and follow all safety protocols while you are in the restaurant,” the company said.
To attend the hiring event, you will need to complete a brief application and select an available interview period with your local Chipotle. Don’t show up without requesting an interview.
Compared to the rest of the restaurant industry, Chipotle did well during the pandemic. The company hired 10,000 new employees in July as it added new locations and built drive-through windows in many existing locations. In November, Chipotle unveiled its first “digital” restaurant in New York, experimenting with only drive-through and pick-up orders.
Job offers at Chipotle
Chipotle’s recruiting frenzy is focused on hiring new restaurant team members, mostly comprised of line chefs, grocery preps, and cashiers. These positions are entry-level positions.
According to the job vacancies on the company’s career board, you must be at least 16 years old to apply. All training courses are offered.
Chipotle does not have a company-wide minimum wage. On average, crew members earn around $ 10 to $ 11 an hour (or a local minimum wage, whichever is higher), equivalent to thousands of self-reported wages on Glassdoor.
To attract new employees, the Burrito chain has experimented with new perks and benefits available to all part-time and full-time employees:
- Health, dental and eyesight insurance.
- 401 (k) retirement plan after one year of employment.
- One free meal per shift.
- 100% tuition coverage for select degrees and universities through a partnership with Guild Education.
- Reimbursement of tuition fees of up to $ 5,250 for schools and degrees outside this partnership.
- Paid time off including parental leave.
- English as a second language.
If Chipotle hits its hiring goals, the company’s workforce will exceed 100,000.
